Our Service pathway

With Sam the Speechie, we will work together collaboratively towards your goal. This is how our path will look like:

  1. Initial Consultation and Goal Setting- information gathering, assessment (observations, informal assessments, dynamic assessments).
  2. Further Assessments (as needed) and Goal Setting
  3. Therapy Block
  4. Review of progress
  5. Report writing (as needed)

Everyone has something to say. Everyone can learn something new today. Sam the Speechie can help you find your words. Let’s start chatting!

Language – understanding and expression

Language is important for understanding what others say and expressing ourselves in words, sentences, and stories. If you or your child have difficulties with language, they may find it difficult to follow instructions, or to tell you what has happened in detail. Sam the Speechie can help you or your child improve his or her language skills.

Speech and Articulation

Clear speech is important to be understood. A person with speech difficulties knows what they want to say, but may find it difficult for others to understand them. This can often lead to frustration. Sam the Speechie can help you or your child with their intelligibility.

Mealtime Support

A safe mealtime is important to reduce the risk of choking. People with disabilities can have an increased risk of choking. Developing a mealtime plan for everyone to follow can help reduce the risk. A person can always learn new skills to help reduce their risk of choking too. Sam the Speechie can help you or your child with supporting a safer mealtime.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Sometimes, a person or a child may not have sufficient verbal speech to communicate effectively. AAC can help to support or help to provide a means of communication for social connectedness. Sam the Speechie can help you, your AAC user, and his/her social network to find the appropriate AAC and to develop the skills to use AAC to build stronger relationships.

Social Skills

No person is an island. We all need to communicate with another person for all kinds of reasons. However, there is more to communication than just telling others what we want. Sam the Speechie can help you or your child develop skills to communicate socially, and to build and maintain friendships.

Literacy

Reading, spelling, and writing is important. It does not need to be boring and difficult. Sam the Speechie can help you to improve your skills at reading, spelling, and writing.
